Affiliate Marketing: Getting My Toes Wet

I've been busy, too busy. I had to put the blog on the back burner for a bit. I hope to get back to my 3/week posts by the end of summer. I am still visiting blogs. I just haven't had too much time for posts.

I signed up to be an affiliate marketer. You can see some of the ads on the top of the blog. Adsense just isn't cutting it for me. I signed up for their "image" ads and still only got text. So I took the plunge to be an affiliate. Guess what, it's free. You should check them out because Pepperjam Network is Now Offering a $10 Affiliate Sign On Bonus. Join Today.

Here's how I'm using the Pepperjam affiliate ads on Squidoo:

Here's another affiliate program: ClickBank. Their ads are in text link ads to digital products. I just signed onto this one. I created Bass Fishing Guide for Fishing Largemouth like a Pro. I don't know how many clickbank lenses I'll do, but that lens was a fun one to throw together.

You probably won't have to hear me ramble on too much about affiliate marketing until I get to know the ropes a little better. So far I'm doing alright with it. Every day another advertiser accepts me as an affiliate at pepperjam. As long as they do, I'll keep building the lenses.

If you are looking to run ads on your blogs or make more money on Squidoo, I think you should give Pepperjam a go.

Good for you. I think affiliate ads are a good way to go for some extra dollars. Like you say, Ad Sense really doesn't cut it. But there is still the same old problem, no clicks - no bucks. If you are going to make money you have to think of ways to get people to the site in large numbers. For me, that's the hard part.

    Hope you do well.

    Happy trails.

  2. I know of some people who have had good luck with affiliate marketing, especially ClickBank. Good luck!

I, too, Muse, have been and will be swamped for the next week or so...but will be posting (at least once!) and also soon guest blogging!

  3. Hi, Muse. I've done better with adsense than affiliates, but then I don't get a lot of traffic usually. Good Luck - let us know how rich you get, then we can join the same affiliates.

  4. Hi Swu! I put some affiliate ads here, those I thought may get some action. Getting people to click is the hard part. We'll see how it goes.

  5. Hi Conda!

It's just crazy around this house. I steal computer time whenever I can. I've been doing the lens work in the middle of the night so I won't be interrupted.

  6. Hey Joe!

Well, I don't know I'll get rich but I'll sure try...If something comes of it the blog will be the first to know!

  7. Okay--the middle of the night is sounding pretty good right now, and who needs sleep anyway?

  8. I know people who do very well with affiliate ads, but as Swubird says, the trick is getting people to your site.
That, I understand, can be accomplished through writing articles.
Eek! It all takes so much time. I've been having trouble just getting to my own posts, let alone visiting others.
Look forward to hearing "the rest of the story."

  9. Conda, sleep is so overrated!

Hi Kathy! It is so hard trying to keep up with it all right now. I'm okay during the school year since I have more time then.

I made a conscious, or maybe unconscious, decision to concentrate on Squidoo articles and ads right now. I don't know how it will all play out. I'm starting to get a little more traffic there.

Reading and posting to other lenses is a lot of work...Thank goodness I'm a fast reader.

  10. The easiest way you can make money online with affiliate marketing is to learn effective strategies for promoting your website! The first way that you can do this is to ensure that you submit your website to the top search engines. These include Google, Yahoo, MSN, and more!

You may also elect to participate in link exchange programs that can backlink to your landing pages. Offering free e-Books and courses that are directly related to your niche is also a wonderful method of getting your website noticed!

  11. Hello t furino!

I'll go visit the site. I'm so new to this and there is so much to learn. I do submit to the search engines--when I remember to...Wouldn't it be nice if there were 26 hours to a day? I could use the extra 2 hours!

  12. To do well with Adsense, you really have to create a site/blog that is focused on a specific niche (ideally a commercial one with product/service tie ins).

Personally I think it's easier to make money with Adsense. All you have to do is get people to click, not to click and then buy something before your affiliate tracking cookie expires. ;)

Come visit my site if you like. I make a living from blogging (and Adsense is a big source of my income), and I'm sharing a lot of what I've learned there.
